Great Ice Cream and The West Wing

The ice cream was very good. Verrrry good. Some of the best ice cream we’ve had in months. Wish we had ice cream like that at home.

The apartment we’ve been staying is part of a small complex, and there’s a swimming pool outside. We had every intention of spending one day at the pool, but we’ve felt so lazy, and so content to just sit around and read, watch a little TV, nap, eat ice cream (!) and then read some more, that we simply haven’t left the apartment.

We ended up not watching any of the DVDs we brought with us either … instead, we remembered that we had Season 6 of The West Wing on the laptop’s hard drive. We’d never returned to the series after Season 5, which ended with Donna getting hurt in an explosion in Gaza. We’re simply not big TV watchers any more, but after five straight hours of The West Wing last night we’ve remembered just how good the series really was.

It’s extraordinary really … nothing ever happens on The West Wing except for people walking around corridors talking to each other; yet it’s absolutely compelling. This is a great season too … Leo’s heart attack, the President having more issues with MS, Donna in a wheelchair … wait a minute, it’s all illness and misery! But misery or not, it was fun to watch and it distracted us from ice cream for a while. Not that there’s anything to complain about where ice cream’s concerned. That was some great ice cream. Mmmmmm.
